Remote Northern Territory Barra Fishing
General Information
Climate & what to bring
During
the dry season from May to September maximum daytime temperature
ranges between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius. Night time minimums
range from 14 to 20. Humidity level is low and it can be surprisingly
chilly at sea so we suggest you bring long pants and
a sweater or jacket.
In October temperatures begin to rise, as does the humidity
level. However, this can also be the best month for Barramundi.
In the wet season from November to April very light
clothing is best as temperature and humidity can
climb. These conditions also suit the mosquitoes, so when
fishing the creeks in dinghies, especially at night, lightweight
long pants and long sleeve shirts are useful. Lightweight
wet weather gear would also be handy.
Between December and March you can expect rain, often quite
heavy in January and February.
At all times of the year you should wear a wide brimmed
hat during the day. Also bring your preferred sunscreen
and DEET based mosquito repellent.
Don’t forget any required medication, your
camera/video equipment and rods, reels and favourite lures.
Advise us in advance if you have any special dietary
requirements or preferences and we will cater accordingly.
Why not take advantage of our 6.5m3 freezer room and take
some of your catch home. We will be pleased to arrange airline
approved cartons so that your friends and family can also
enjoy that special taste of the Top End! (Territory bag limits
